Gingerbread House Pattern
You will need a ruler, a pen or pencil and a piece of cardboard
or bristol board. (cereal box cardboard works the best)
Two Roof Pieces
Using your ruler draw 2 rectangles 11 inches long X 4 1/2
inches wide. Cut the patterns out
Two Long Walls
Using your ruler draw 2 rectangles. 10 inches long X 5 inches
high. Cut the patterns out.
Two Short Walls (with peak)
Using your ruler draw a small rectangle 6 inches X 5 inches
high. Face the cardboard in front of you with the 6 inch long
side going horizontal and (on the top line) measure 3 inches
in and place a dot. Then from that dot measure 2 inches (90
degrees) up and place a dot. Then place your ruler on the
top corner of your rectangle and the other end of the ruler
on your dot that is 2 inches higher and connect the dots.
Repeat this with the other corner. It should look like a rectangle
with a triangle sitting on top. You now have one end wall
completed. Repeat this step again so you will finish with
2 end walls. Cut them out.
Now is the time you need to choose where you want your front
door and windows. Remember there is no correct shapes or placements.
Your gingerbread house outsides are totally up to your imagination.
So feel free to cut a front door and windows out anywhere
you want. On a scrap piece of paper draw a rough sketch of
how you want your house to look. Make it up as you go along.
Just make sure you measure before you cut out.

other long wall (the back of the house) with no windows.
Here are the measurements for that wall. Place one of your
10X5 rectangle walls horizontal in front of you. On the bottom
line place you ruler and measure from the end 1 1/2 inches
place a dot, measure from the end 2 1/2 inches place a dot,
measure from the end 4 inches place a dot, measure from the
end 6 inches place a dot, measure from the end 7 1/2 inches
place a dot, and measure 8 1/2 inches and place a dot.
At your first dot (1 1/2)bottom of the wall take your ruler
and measure 2 inches up (vertical) and place a dot. Then measure
1 inch from that dot and place a dot. Connect the two dots.
At your your second measurement at base of your wall (2 1/2).
Do the exact same thing and attach the two vertical lines
with two horizontal lines creating a square window. Now cut
your window out.
At your 4 inch dot measure and draw a line up vertically
3 inches. Then on the 6 inch dot measure and draw a line up
vertically 3 inches. Then connect the tops of the lines with
a horizontal one to create a door. Now cut out the door.
At the 7 1/2 dot repeat the step you did on the 1 1/2 dot.
At the 8 1/2 dot repeat the step you did on the 2 1/2 dot.
You now have the front of you house complete with 2 windows
and a front door.
Here are the window measurements for your side walls (short
walls 6X5).Place one of your short walls in front of you with
the 6 inch line going horizontal. On the bottom line place
