Homemade Flour Tortillas Recipe

There is nothing better than knowing what goes into your food. This makes it healthier and tastes better. This recipe only takes about an hour from start to finish.

Ingredients you will need for homemade flour tortillas:

2 cups flour ( I prefer whole wheat ) and I also add a couple teaspoons of flax seed meal.
2 teaspoons butter
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt ( I use sea salt )
1/2 cup water

Directions:

Mix 1 cup of flour with salt, baking powder in large glass bowl. Add water and butter. Mix with a wooden spoon or spatula. Slowly add some of the remaining flour (not all of it) Once the mixture becomes thick enough. Dump it on a lightly floured surface (use some of the flour you have left). Knead for 5-7 minutes and add more flour when it becomes sticky. You might not use all the flour. I usually end up with 1/4 cup left over. Once kneading is done roll into a ball and leave for 15 minutes.

Take your ball and split it in to 8 pieces. Do this by splitting it in half, then those pieces in half untill you have 8 pieces. Roll these into balls. Then use a roller and roll into circles.

Heat a skillet to a little hotter than medium lightly coated in olive oil. Heat each side for roughly 1 minute. I cook them just longer enough so they slightly turn brown. You will get the hang of it. Don't over cook because they will be to hard to wrap up.
