Tips on how to clean your jewelry

I have compiled a list to help for both silver and gold jewelry. When not to wear it and how to store it when your not wearing it. How to keep it looking brand new and more.

You can clean silver plated and gold plated jewelry the same as you would if it were solid silver or gold. If you are polishing with a cleaning cloth use minimal force and keep the length of your polishing down. This goes the same for liquid polishes, only use for 1/2 the suggested time.

When your not wearing your silver, keep it in a poly bag ( zip lock plastic bag ) These air tight bags help keep oxygen and moisture away. It will stay relatively tarnish free.

Clean your jewelry on a regular basis and you will find in the long run you will spend less time on each piece.

When using a soft cloth to polish, always use a back and forth motion. NEVER a circular pattern as it will cause surface scratches.

Never apply perfume, lotion, hair spray or soap when wearing your jewelry

Never wear silver or gold jewelry in the shower. Soap residue dulls the shine of both metals when not used properly.

Lotions and acne treatments containing calamine are a no-no. Calamine is considered to be a tarnishing agent.

When using and cleaners. Always follow directions from the manufacturer.

Always remove jewelry before swimming in a pool. Chlorine can help speed up the tarnishing process.

Baby oils sometimes help keep tarnish away

Try using toothpicks to help clean in the cracks you can't get into

Always keep pieces clean, dry and out of direct sunlight when possible.
