Lavender Plant
A lavender plant is a perennial shrub with lots of small
fragrant flowers. Many of the varieties can grow two to three
feet in height.
Lavender plants prefer a well drained slightly alkaline soil.
By adding sand or perlite to the soil will help with drainage.
They love as much sunlight as they can get.
Lavender flowers can be used for potpourri's. To dry the
flowers it is recommended that you cut a stem off with two
or three open flowers on it.
The rest of the flowers will open when it is drying. The
best time to cut the stems is just after the dew has left
the plant. Hang the stem upside down when drying. Drying should
be done in a warm dry place and should take a week or two.
